As another of the ongoing celebrations for SMR’s 10 year, we took the team to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. SMR spent the day walking through the grounds and around the lake and looking at the variety of artistic sculptures.
A group of the team did a 6k walk around the grounds to fully stretch their legs and make the most out of being outside of the office!
“On Wednesday, a group of 14 intrepid walkers set out on a 5K adventure through the breath-taking Yorkshire Sculpture Park and somehow, we dodged the rain not by clever planning, but by sheer, glorious luck.
The skies threatened, the forecast frowned, but the clouds held back just long enough for us to wander the rolling hills and winding paths of this 500-acre open-air gallery. From monumental sculptures nestled in meadows to thought-provoking installations tucked among ancient trees, every step offered a new perspective on art, on nature, and on the joy of shared experience.
We laughed, we admired, we occasionally debated what exactly that sculpture meant. And while the weather may not have been on our side in theory, it turned out to be the perfect companion in practice.
Sometimes, the best walks aren’t the ones you plan; they’re the ones that surprise you. And this one? It was a masterpiece in motion!” – Nicole, Associate
“It was really nice to be out in nature and gave the opportunity for a much-needed break out of the office. The Wellness Wednesday also gave me a good chance to talk and chill with colleagues I hadn’t already.” – Luke, Assistant Technologist
“It was a real pleasure to take the whole SMR Architects team to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. A perfect setting for our Wellness Wednesday and one of our 10 events celebrating 10 years. A moment to reflect, recharge, and reconnect as a team.” – Amanda, Director
