SMR have been very busy this summer with lots of upcoming, exciting projects!

This year, we’ve reviewed over 100 Last Mile feasibility schemes across the length and breadth of the UK thus far, advanced a number of these to RIBA Stage 4-Tender, and are supporting clients in CSM roles too. Additionally, tend existing sites are undergoing various stages of rework and uplift, with three schemes already on site. We have a series of EV driven solutions progress through workstage 4 which sit well in our drive for sustainability.

In the Industrial & Logistics sector, we’ve secured consent for over 3M sqft of floorspace, continue on site in Hull with over 2M sqft, and are looking forward to reaching site in Tunbridge Wells Q4 and Ferrybridge Q1 2025. A series of other large fulfilment facilities are progressing to planning, and the team have supported a number of successful bids we are starting to develop.

SMR’s specialist Workspace Team is underway with technical design for a Pharmaceutical Facility in Hertfordshire and have supported the opening of two new Safestore units so far this summer whilst progressing on another five self storage units through Planning and Construction.

Meanwhile, SMR’s Retail & Hospitality Team has four major Waitrose refurbishment/refrigeration projects nearing completion this Summer, with a further 20 Waitrose Stores that are in the process of being improved; plus two new build Lidl stores progressing on site.

Finally this summer, working with a mix of contractors and housebuilders our Residential Team has construction commenced or underway on 230+ new affordable homes in the Yorkshire region.
