About Mathew Smalley

A natural aptitude for design and management, along with a lifelong immersion in his father’s practice meant it was perhaps Mathew’s destiny to qualify as an architect and become involved in running a successful architecture practice himself.

Throughout his career, Mathew has developed an appreciation of simple, clean and modern lines, which influence his understanding of architecture. In turn, this aesthetic feeds into the SMR ethos, translating into a contemporary design approach, which remains highly cognisant of the commercial needs of operator, developer and contractor clients.

Mathew also takes a lead on professional practice matters and his passion for both process and legislation fuel this aspect of SMR’s business.

When he’s not working, Mathew enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading & walking.
