Holme House is an independent care facility/hospital providing support for people with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs and mental illnesses. The hospital helps individuals recover and rehabilitate whilst providing a safe, structured and gradual reintegration into the local community.

The facility was purpose built using state-of-art design to cater for the very high standards of support required and to help provide a welcoming, therapeutic environment without an “institutional” look or feel. The development consists of 3 separate buildings. The main ward caters for 11 people with their own en-suite bedrooms, communal lounges, activity rooms, laundry and dining room. A self contained annex “step down” unit was included for people who develop some independent living skills as was the conversion of an existing building into offices for staff.

The single storey development uses a series of monopitch roofs and high level north light clerestory glazing to allow natural daylight deep into the building. This, combined with a careful choice of building materials helps the development sit comfortably with the surrounding environment.
