Flaxby Green Park

SMR Architects have assisted in gaining unanimous outline planning approval for the Masterplan of a new business park development just off the A1, Junction 47 roundabout with superb links to Yorkshire’s Golden Triangle; Harrogate, York & Leeds. The Flaxby Green Park site represents a real opportunity for sustainable development and provides a future economic area for Harrogate and the surrounding area, providing the development of up to 610,000 sqft of B1 Office space and associated retail/leisure uses.

The vision for the site is to create a unique business park that will champion green technologies through innovative and challenging design. The site has the potential to deliver a sustainable environment where the extensive woodland areas are managed in order to enhance biodiversity and to increase accessibility for the enjoyment of both employees at the site and wider public use. The site falls within a highly accessible location directly adjacent to the A59 and the A1. A new park and ride facility, coupled with the potential for a new rail halt, offers the ability to create a new transport interchange, maximising choices for sustainable modes of travel for both employees working at the site and for visitors to Harrogate, Leeds and York.

The site would provide a valuable piece to Harrogate’s economic diversification agenda. The scheme will help secure investment, creating beneficial job opportunities and providing good quality employment sites.

The chairman of Harrogate Borough Council’s planning committee meeting, Councillor John Mann, said: “The proposal received unanimous approval as we thought it was an excellent plan for the jobs it will bring. There is a currently a shortage of economic land for firms to use in the area and these 100 acres will be a viable addition for this.”
