November 2016

As part of our drive to encourage young people to become fully involved within our industry, for the second time SMR attended both the Harrogate Grammar School and Leeds Beckett University Built Environment career fairs.

Both events proved to be huge successes. At the LBU event, SMR joined forces with a rich slice of the construction industry to assist Architectural students, including; Butler and Young, CIAT, CIOB, JN Bentley, P+HS, Turner & Townsend, Wakefield Council and Keepmoat.

Tahira Hamid, LBU Course Leader for Architectural Technology, explained:
“This is the Schools third successive careers fair providing a platform for our students to meet and build relations with leading industry experts and understand their options for potential placement and graduate positions.”

Amin Mahdmina, 3rd Year Architectural Technology student, said:
“The whole the event was great. There were representatives from a range of industries and they were professional, friendly and clearly passionate about making this experience useful for us, the students.”

Amanda Marsey, Director at SMR commented:
“SMR Architects were pleased to be involved in this year’s School of Built Environment Careers Fair at Leeds Beckett University. It gave us an insight into the skillsets current Architectural Technology students are developing and an opportunity to talk to students about our future work experience opportunities and Graduate AT position we have commencing this Summer. Most importantly, we felt honoured to be able to help steer and advise our industry’s future professionals”.
