As SMR Architects enters its fifth year; our client base continues to grow, our diversification goals are starting to payoff and our offered services continue to expand. To help service this, SMR has undertaken a successful recruitment drive and brought on board a quartet of newbies.

  • Dayang is a newly chartered Architect, originally from Malaysia. She has gained experience within the Residential sector and high-end design.
  • Mark is an experienced Architectural Assistant Part2, having gained a wide range of knowledge across various sectors: Commercial, Residential, Leisure and Refurbishments.
  • Tobi is an Architectural Assistant Part2, who graduated in 2018 with a Master of Architecture from Huddersfield University. Tobi is joining our AA Part2 pool who are all keenly progressing towards their Part3.
  • Vikesh is a knowledgeable Architect with nearly 10 years of professional experience. Vikesh is a keen problem solver and has undertaken numerous notable projects.

In addition, SMR have been delighted to welcome back Jade, who has recently returned from Maternity Leave.

Amanda Marsey noted: “The Directors are all happy to have Jade back in the fold. As a whole, we are incredibly proud of Team SMR and are always keen to meet highly motivated individuals who will compliment and further push the team’s abilities. Our clients will benefit from these excellent appointments, most recently- Dayang, Mark, Tobi and Vikesh. Their individual skillsets, experience and ambitions strengthen SMR and our ability to deliver a quality of service to our client base.”

John Lewis Southampton CDH

February 2019

SMR Architects have recently assisted with the completion of a new 46,353 sq ft build-to-suit facility in Southampton, on behalf of omnichannel retailer, John Lewis & Partners. The customer delivery hub will provide additional capacity to serve Southampton and the wider south coast region. This site replaces the retailer’s existing warehouse provision, located nearby in Southampton city centre, with the full operations relocation expected to be completed by April 2019. The bespoke warehouse building allows rapid turn around of parcels delivered directly from the hub to people’s homes, supported by office and welfare space for the John Lewis Partners.

John Lewis has successfully collaborated with Peel Logistics to strategically delivery this build-to-suit facility to its exact needs and design which has also been delivered on time and to specification.

Simon Rispin added “This project was the first collaboration between Wardens and SMR Architects, and we look forward to working with them again in the future. We already have had further discussions, looking to grow this relationship and use the evident synergy between the two companies. We’re delighted John Lewis and Partners are so pleased with the finished product”
